We spent a day sight seeing and shopping in Sydney, visiting The Rocks markets, Botanical Gardens, Sydney Library , Hyde Park and all around the city. Sydney is very public transport friendly with tons of buses, trains and ferries. If you are visiting be aware that Sunday is cheap day and for a couple if dollars you can get sticker that gets you on all buses and ferries!
We had a really nice day looking around the city.
The Botanical Gardens have a Central Park feel to them, a lovely place to sit and relax, eat lunch and read or to walk through and see the gorgeous plants and trees. A look round the lakes is a must as they are full of HUGE eels, seriously scary! The kids loved it! There are also some lovely views of the bridge.
In the city we walked past Elizabeth Street and the lucky wild boar outside the Prince Alfred hospital, rubbing his nose is supposed to bring you luck and answer your wishes. Thom was wishing really hard!!!
Hyde Park was hosting the Sydney Festival so we had a wander through before heading for Darling Harbour.
Every Saturday there are fireworks in Darling Harbour, you can go and sit in the harbour for free, there are lots of street entertainers and things to see. We went for dinner at The Watershed then hung out to watch the brilliant fireworks. A great day and evening!
