Manly Dam

Manly Dam is one of Australia’s largest fresh water lakes, it has tons of wildlife, bush walks and a cool dam. It’s also just 10 minutes from my sisters house in Balgowlah so it seemed a great place for a day out.

The water was filled with black swans and we saw a whole host of birds and wildlife, the kids loved swimming in the lake and looking at the dam.

After lunch we went out for a bush walk out to the waterfall, you can walk round the whole lake which takes around 3-4 hours but with all the kids in the heat we decided to go for just 2 hours or so.

It was great seeing the waterfall along with local trees and plants that we’d never seen before. There was a tree that looked like it had been shot and was bleeding! There were lots of evidence of aboriginal settlings which was really interesting as well as lizards, insects and birds.

A great day and worth the trip for a free yet brilliant day out!
